Falling Down & Gathering Up Exhibition

"Five artists come together to reflect through their art on what it is to be living in these rapidly changing and seemingly unstable times, in a visual ‘falling down’ and ‘gathering up’. Unified by concept, differing materials, processes and approaches are used to narrate the rhythms of falling, then rising, leading to contemplations on resilience and community."

I was approached to come up with a visual concept for the exhibition that would be used on the printed invitaion and online marketing material. The solution was to contrast black and white vertical type against the soft image of one of the sculptures in the show to represent the 'falling' and 'gathering' theme.

I also designed a booklet titled ‘How I Work’ (written collaboratively by the artists in the show) which was printed to be available during the exhibition. The text drew on the words and work of the artists in the exhibition, developed by their weekly correspondence and conversations between Japan and Australia.
